Modifications to SAP Enterprise Framework for Aircraft Safety Equipment Firm
Blog Article
A digital supply chain expert has commenced a latest collaboration with a world-renowned manufacturer of ejection seats and aviation safety equipment. This project is designed to enhance operational efficiency and future-proof its operations through changes to its SAP enterprise structure and additional SAP improvements.
The consultancy has already completed several projects for this customer, including the deployment of the PreBilt™ solution. This implementation greatly increased operational visibility, reduced manual processes, and improved usability for personnel.
Transition to SAP S/4HANA
As part of its digital modernisation, the manufacturer is moving from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, selecting a brownfield implementation. This approach called for a review of the existing enterprise structure, which had not changed with one plant and one warehouse, although the company operates across three UK sites.
In early 2024, the consultancy was appointed to undertake a feasibility study and provide tailored recommendations in accordance with SAP best practices. The proposal included the completion of the S/4HANA upgrade prior to implementing a revised enterprise structure, recommending the adoption of two plants and three warehouses.
Upcoming Implementation Phase
With the S/4HANA upgrade nearing its conclusion, the customer is now beginning the recommended enterprise structure changes. Additional system enhancements identified during discovery are also set for implementation. These include upgrades to PreBilt and updates to SAP to support inter-site stock transfers and Available to Promise (ATP) functionality.
Detailed Assessment and PoC Activities
- Comprehensive analysis to support inter-site transfers and ATP requirements.
- PoC in the sandbox environment highlighting the proposed structure changes.
- Presentation of high-level design to key stakeholders, supported by documentation and next-phase recommendations.
- Assessment of enhancement needs for the PreBilt mobility solution.
- Finalisation on the strategy for inventory transfer and master data alignment.
